Welcome to The Broken Chatbox Official Forums!
After being in the scene for over a decade as a community with just a Discord server, TBC is expanding to include a forum and website specializing in sharing information and creative works! Many in our community, myself included, have had a struggle sharing and keeping information online and accessible for everyone. We’ve also seen an increase in online platforms for sharing become heavily restrictive and repressive to creative expression.
As a result, we’ve seen a lot of information and creative sharing limit itself to private, and often times, restrictive platforms (ex. Discord Servers) without any meaningful external access. Others have also used platforms or methods which are intentionally convoluted or difficult to interact with, such as using complicated GitHub processes or requiring sending work to another person for upload.
To counter this movement, The Broken Chatbox is taking the opposite approach. With the launch of the forums we are creating a space where people are able to share their creative works and information in a way that is accessible to the web with SEO optimizations in-mind. We’ve embraced some of the newest frameworks and systems to ensure that posting information is not only easy but also easy to browse, link, and manage longer term. These newer systems also enable us to use something I’m calling “site-sync” between the forums and official website!
The site-sync system is still a work in progress and not currently live, we’re starting with just the forums to see how things go. However, the goal is to have content from the forums in specific categories, such as guides/content releases/ect, automatically sync to the main site to showcase in a much cleaner fashion with more specialized searching tools. This allows us to have an easy to upload and interact style platform in the forums/discord while also having a main site for more open web access and avoid the clutter or difficulties only using a forum would have.
We’re also carrying over our rules to the forums and site, focusing on allowing as much creative expression as possible but taking a strong stance against harassment and trying to prevent harm. With the launch of the forums we are also launching our new official rules page, viewable at https://thebrokenchatbox.com/?mode=rules, which are focused on keeping the site and users safe and promoting a healthy community!
We’re expecting things to be slow for quite some time and there’s currently some restrictions we have to deal with in-terms of the forum, but we are committed to growing and maintaining this extension of our community! Don’t forget to also join the Discord for live chatting and gaming/creative sessions! Excited to see all your posts!
